Layers

slicing severing separating
a wholeness broken down
parts
created compartmentalized categorized
in the name of science
in the name of seeking
understanding
knowledge
explanations
leaving a
brutally broken body

yet in this process of
severance

beauty is revealed
overwhelming
complexity continuity coherence

what we do
with this beauty
is what counts

layers are created
borders made
and herein lies the key:
the layers we create
separations

interpretations inherently inadequate
cannot explain life

we are all layers
but layers by perception
layers merging
inwards outwards
seen unseen
never constant
forever fluctuating flowing
part of a greater world
whose language
we seem to have forgotten

so why do we persist
stubbornly selfishly singularly
build our lives our definitions
on rigid

separations
borders
layers?
